Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Anthony Jones ( Mello Banton ) born in Kingston Jamaica.
As a youth growing up Mello admired the stlye and lyrics
of artiste like Burru Banton, Michigan and Smiley, Yellowman and a lot more prominent Deejays then.
His career as an artiste started out in the dance hall era deejaying on a system called Black Hoover, working out alongside artiste like Burru Banton and Kelly Ranks.
Mello then moved up to the bigger
Stereo One Sound Sytem
with deejays like Luitenant Stichie, Wolfman
Ricky Stereo and Courtney Melody
In 1983 he then moved on to the studio
voicing for producer Newton Merrit and Jimmy Cliff
the song called " Ghetto Life ".
In 1986 he also worked with producer Bobby Pices
on the song called " Brown Skin Ting "
wich was released on the Pices Label.
Then in 1993 Mello Banton recorded " God Talk "
on the Control Tower Label
before he went on five years later to work with producer
Curtis Mallet and Afrodeziac, releasing songs like
" Gi We A Break "
" Tell Me Who,"
" A Little Love feat/singer Melvin Irie.
On the Big Link Label he did
songs called " My Friend " and " Hunky Punky "
Presently Mello is busy working in the
RuffCompany Studio on his debute CD
" Stay Far "
