Melanie, I talked to you at Chrome the other night. I was there with my wife. Really dig your solo stuff, especially Growing Up and Transgressions. Just wanted to let you know. Keep up the good work. See you around. BTW You Spin Me Round is by Dead or Alive. Would have never remembered that one. R, Scott

Hey Melanie, Checking out a few of your tunes, and man, is so cool to find someone as refreshing and unique to listen to as you! :) Your music and voice capture the ear to tune in and listen right from the start. And your guitar chord progressions are so unique, also great lyrics. So far my fav is Shallow, like the lower range on your voice there. Ha this is gonna be a weird smashing of styles, but this is how I hear you sounding like, Nanci Griffith run into Ani Di Franco (also some of her guitar stylings) and hell at times I hear a bit of Billie Holliday in your voice, it's the way you bend your voice and slide in some of your songs, you got some special kinda voice there girl! :) Gonna listen on here. Hey please feel free to check out my music, would love to hear some feedback from you. Best of luck to you with your music and wherever you want to go with it....always stay creative!! ~strummergurl~ __________

Hey Melanie Waters. I was just thinking, you should call yourself Mellow Waters, or your cd or something Mellow waters. That's a cool name to have "Melanie Waters." I'm listening to ocean blue. This is good stuff. I love the opening riff. It's so good. I don't know if I've previously asked you this but how long have you been playing? You are a very talented writer. That is not something you can be taught, you have to have it deep within you, and even if you do you have to know how to bring it out. You are very good at bringing out the artist that lies in your soul. I can't entirely make out all the lyrics in dissipate, but in what I believe is the chorus the guitar flows well with the vocals. the guitar work is very good. This is a very good one. I'll have a few for you to check out in the coming weeks. I have some I've written in the past which I havent really gotten around to recording and others that are half finished and now I have time so I'll let you know so you can check out

Hey Mel, Just came to check out some of your songs, liked (as everyone leaving messages!) Surprise and Shallow, Ocean Blue's not been mentioned and I love the vocal change on that in the opening lines. Its a rare gift indeed to write uplifting music with just yourself and a guitar and you've done it. Lyrically there's some poetry in there; which really appeals. thanks for leaving a message for me and your compliments; really you have no idea how much it means to me. Besides which it turns me onto some great music in exchange. Take Care. Ah, just remembered who you remind me of Michelle Shocked. Well worth checking out if you get the time. (Mind no idea if her music if available on the net - think you would really get her).

Hey I like your voice. It sounds kinda like Sheryl Crowe, but kinda different. It's good. I'm listening to "Shallow." I love the opening riff. Actually all of the guitar is real good. Great lyrics too! I have a thing where I don't pay attention ot lyrics cause i focus on the other aspects of music but I'm glad I can read yours. You should listen to my "Let Us Eat Cake." Reading your inspriation behind this song I think you might like it. I took it down because I recorded a better version and it should be back up in the next few days. I like how you go from a lower range up higher in "Dear John." Vocally that is. Good lyrics too. You have a good ability with lyrics. I try to write "perfect" lyrics all the time and end up getting frustrated and quit because I forget that the beauty behind art is that humans are not perfect. Your lyrics are very down to earth and I feel like I can step inside your mind. Cool chords on "Growing up." Once again I love your voice. Nice "Room with White Wal

Melanie, I absolutely love your music. I've listened to 3 of them now and it makes me feel so good! Your music has an uplifting feel to it (at least the three I've listened to) and it's great. I've always said that great music is rarely complicated, rather it has space to breathe and creates moods(good or bad) or stirs emotions. Your music does that for sure. I don't know if you're familiar with The big ship, but he is currently my favorite band on soundclick. However, after hearing your tunes today, that ship may have sailed. LOL. Seriously though, you're amazing. I love your voice. I've been looking for a singer like you, great but unique. You know, not technically perfect but better! Amazing stuff here, keep me posted on new music. P.S. I see you're from Virginia Beach, I know it's a good sized city, but I gotta ask: Do you know a guy named Jon Litchfield? Old friend of mine from when I was in the Air force and I haven't talked to him in years. Peace, keep up the

Hmmm - like a room with white walls on this message board. :0 Love your lyrics and you have a strong rhythmic guitar style. I'd like to hear a crisper vocal delivery rather than slurring and extending as often as you do. If you don't already know their music, check out my friend Chris Pureka http://www.chrispureka.com and Melissa Ferrick http://www.melissaferrick.com I think you'd enjoy their music. Keep strummin!
