Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
MekTuB was formed in 2000 by a bunch of friends. In the beginning they were just rehearsing a lot - those were open rehearsals - but after the basist had joined the band they started playing gigs and recording songs in the home studios. It must be said that since the very beginning MekTuB decided to go its own specific and original way and tried to play only originals.
It was also identified with charity, nonpolitical and noncommercial activities, because exactly 50 percent of all gigs it played were supposed to support actions like: gathering money for the victims of floods, for hospital equipment (testing hearing) or for orphanage in Warsaw.
That is why the band didn't earn anything from its music. Fans had a possibility to buy the records for the price which was equal to band's expences to produce the record (making cd, making cover and studio expenses).
When MekTuB disbanded in 2002 many people couldn't believe it. It was thought to play again soon anyhow. Fans wrote letters to people organizing bid festivals to invite MekTuB - they thought the members of the band would have to perform one more time. However, the musicians are engaged in other projects now, so it seems that this chapter is permanently closed. And for all fans there remain the recordings which - now it's clear - better suit the archives...

Oh, man...... heh... we play every fucking instrument in area. Any instrument doesn't play without human being.
