Born in Puerto Rico and raised in different states in the U.S., Mecca doesn't put only one claim to a particular city. She represents the universe. Having skills in all creative aspects, Mecca chose to focus her energy into music. A born emcee, she began freestyling when she was about 12 years of age. Being the only female in her circle, she was very competitive with the males and showed them that she can be just as nice or even nicer than them. She is known for going hard on her tracks. Mecca did not grow up all of her life in the hood, and never ran with a clique. She has tho, been through all of the ups and downs in her life, and her music represents her to the fullest. She is street, political, loving, and poetic. It's not so often to find an artist that can come to you and bring music to you on many different levels. 

 
As far as a personal life is concerned, Mecca is a Wife and the Mother of 7 children. Three of her own and four step-children. She devotes her time to her family and believes that family comes first. Her family is one of the main reason that she continues to create music. She wants to show them that they should NEVER give up on their dreams. No matter what you have going on in your life, make time to follow your heart and your passions. 
 
 
Mecca has not been in the lime light, because she choosed to play the background. She has a nice fan base on MySpace and her fans are backing her up in all of her movements 100%. She devotes her time to a movement called, "Hip Hop Sisters", which was created by MC Lyte, which brings female artist together for one common cause...get our respects as women and not media toys. She got her first appearance on a DJ Blazita mixtape called "New York New York We're Back", and she received a great review on RapMullet.com for her song 320 Spit.  She is currently working on a mixtape, with beats from Johnny Champion and Mightee Healthy Productions.
 
 
Mecca is original, creative and very honest. She does not make music based on anybody's life but her own. What she has, she has, and what she doesn't, she doesn't. She takes alot of pride in the fact that she is not concerned with material objects....just life.
