Mayne T.R.I.P. (an acronym standing for Truly Respecting Intelligent Poets) was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio.
Mayne has been musically talented since birth. At the age of nine, he was influenced by Run D.M.C., L.L. Cool J and Kurtis Blow. He reminisces on his first Hip Hop cassette which was Run D.M.C., Christmas Carols In Hollis Queens. Mayne started playing the trumpet in 4th grade and continued on to high school where he would find himself in concert and marching band. Mayne T.R.I.P. was accepted to the Cleveland School of the Arts to study music, but his family (consisting of his mother and two sisters) later moved to the west coast stating, I started writing songs of poetry in the ninth grade and teamed up with fellow classmates to form a group called, Cultural Revolution. Mayne has deep conscious lyrics ranging from subject matters about the streets of Cleveland to California, his personal life struggles, political insight and deep belief in GOD. Unlike many artist who speak of fast cars, women and lifestyles of the rich and famous.
Mayne brings his own creative uniqueness to the Table of REALITY, he says. At present, there are various artist that I enjoy listening to, such as RAKIM, Tupac Shakur, KRS-One, N.W.A. Ice Cube, ThaDoGGPound, DRE, Eminem, Jay-Z, B.I.G, Kanye West, Nas, Mos Def, Dead Prez, Common, Bone Thugs, T.I., Scarface, E-40, Spice1, Outkast and The Roots, just to name a few, says Mayne. Much can be stated about Mayne T.R.I.P., but one thing that clearly stands out is his determination to bring new sound to Hip Hop music, with banging tracks like, Get Sum and Black Luv, a resurrection has definitely been added to the hip hop world. Mayne T.R.I.P. is one to carry the mantle, as he states, Were all prophets Gods watching the clock tick.
