Mayhem Lettuce
Mayhem Lettuce has been crafting sad, strange, sometimes silly, spoken-word songs from rural Illinois since 1993. We're two beardy dudes raised on King Missile with delusions of Portishead.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Mayhem Lettuce formed in 1993 in Port Byron, IL despite neither member having any particular musical talent.
Nothing much happened until 1995 when Grahm's poems and Wade's fruity keyboard music meshed into something fun and interesting and halfway competent.
Around 1997, with the recording of the hit song Chaucer Creeps, the band became "real".
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We played live once at Dave's party. It was rad. It's available on CD and VHS.
Your musical influences
King Missile taught us that reading poems over rock music was a viable option. Portishead taught us that trip-hop drums are the best drums. The Cure taught that boys DO cry.
