Matti sax
Matti sax - Saxophone, clarinet and a keyboard player. Composer, arranger and a vice director of a music school in Iceland. Father of a 5 children and married to the singer and songwriter Áslaug Helga Hálfdánardóttir.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Matti sax graduated spring 2007, from The FIH (Icelandic Musicians Union) School of Music in Iceland. He also graduated from the music teacher line at the same school spring 2006. His first cd "M-project" was out last december. M-project is a big cd with all kind of arrangements from quartet to big band. Instrumental and vocals. Matti has been arranging for Sniglabandið, 200.000 Naglbíta, The dixie duck and more bands in Iceland. He has also been playing with a lot of groups like Sniglabandið, Barbarian twins, Url, Kalk, 8-villt, Englarnir, Spoon, Öndin (the dixie duck) and with artist like Candice Ivory, Luther Thomas, Steven Markus Bernstein, Áslaug Helga and Heiða (Idol)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live as oft as I can. Just where ever I want to. Of course I like it
Your musical influences
My music is like no one else. I thing its a new type of genre. Matt style :)
What equipment do you use?
Selmer Mark VI tenor sax, Keilwerth shadow tenor sax, La soprano sax, yamaha clarinet, wurlitzer A200 electric piano, Nord stage keybord and many more. I dont have a space for all the equipments I do have.
