Martin Owens
I have been messing around with synths and drum machines since the early 80's, and also play drums, bass and guitar. Currently, I work on my music in my spare time, which is scarce as I have a day job and also work on weekends as a DJ... but from time to time I manage to snatch enough time for myself and dust off the old gear and knock out some tracks.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Nothing really notable, just the odd opportunity here and there. Some soundtrack work for a documentary, some production / co-writing collaboration things with other local musicians. Just the usual stuff that musicians you have never heard of get up to while they're waiting to take the world by storm !!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
No, my tracks are studio creations, and just as well too, as I don't really envisage too many people flocking to listen to my music in a live venue, let alone pay for the priviledge !!
Your musical influences
My musical influences rarely surface in my own playing, probably because I tend to like to listen to musicians who play much better than I do !! But if I had to give you a list, it would be:
Frank Zappa
Mr Bungle
Muse
Marillion
Fish
Queen
Radiohead
Rage Against The Machine
Jean Michel Jarre
Primus
Faith No More
Journey
Pantera
