Marquis Oz - LIVE STAND-UP COMEDY

Welcome to my "NOT CLEAN" stand-up comedy site!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I began stand-up comedy in 1994 after a brief flirtation with spoken word & poetry. In 1995 I was a semi-finalist in the "Twin Cities Funniest Person" contest. In 1996-2000 I did my first road gigs with MC & feature work. During this period I was also stage manager at "The Laughing Cup". 1999 saw the release of my 1st comedy album "Up & Coming". I scored several top 10 hits with this album at mp3.com's Adult Comedy charts including a long stay at #2 (SO close!!). In 2001, I returned to the stage and recorded my 3rd comedy album "Oozin' Oz" to be happily surprised when it was the featured Comedy CD at mp3.com in Feb. 2002 upon it's release. In 2003, I toured the east coast with "Giggles Comedy Club" with clubs in N. Carolina, Georgia & Florida. 2004 saw my 1st 90 min. show (40 min. comedy, 50 min. music) in Lino Lakes, Minnesota. In 2005, I did my first 60 min. stand-up headlining gigs as well as my 1st performance for comic-book & gaming conventions. Also this year I hit #12 on soundclick.com's Adult Comedy chart. In 1995, beginning with Ch. 33 local access, then in 1999-2000 moving to Fri. nights on MCN Twin Cities regional access I hosted & produced "GameQuest TV" which later became "Scalywags TV" which added stand-up & sketch comedy to video-game reviews (it was the forefather of today's G4 television channel!). I have also produced & directed 3 short films. "The Fancy Ray Project" (1999) "My Former RoomMate" (2002) "Matt's Room (2004) I still hope to one day write for SNL.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I have taken a shine to the comic-book & gaming convention crowds. I plan to do more conventions in 2006. Of course there's the neverending world of open mic-ing! But then again, trying out new stuff at a paying gig is not recommended! My favorite live performance (among many) was in Aug. 2004, when I performed my first 90 min. 1-Man-Show! The 1st 40 min. was the best stand-up set I had done to that date and the final 50 min. was all music (including my surprise character performance of Swedish Death-metal's "DemoNPrayeR")! Portions of this show will be included on my upcoming 4th comedy album "Tannish-Silver" (2006).
