Mark Quinn-Drummer
Since the age of 15 Mark Quinn has been actively playing the drum set. Being influenced by the
studio drumming of Steve Gadd, the innovative feel of John Bonham, the high-energy groove of
Jimmy Chamberlain and Travis Barker, the dynamical approach of Manu Katche, the power of Dave Grohl and bands like Refused, dillinger 4, radiohead, Mars volta, and Fugazi. Mark has
created a unique, artistic, tasteful, rock solid, and some times thunderous voice on his instrument.
In 1994 he graduated with honors from Oneonta College in New York with a BA degree in music.
Upon graduation Mark relocated to Austin, TX where he opened up his first pre production studio
business, "engine sonics", and began his studio drumming career. While in Austin Mark also
began backing touring artists in genres ranging from singer/songwriter folk to various forms or
rock, punk, and groove bands. In 1997 he relocated to the west coast to expand his possibilities
and continue operating engine sonics. In the Northern California Bay area Mark performed on
hundreds of unsigned artists' records and demo's as well as recorded regularly in such studios
as Hyde Street Studios, San Francisco, Studio X, Sausalito, Guerrilla Recording, Oakland, House
Of Faith, Oakland, and Gadgetbox Studio's, Santa Cruz. He also began private instruction
carrying an average roster of 20 students of all ages.
In 2003, the request for a demo cd of grooves from a Los Angeles based producer sparked
Mark's next career pursuit of live drum set loop production. He is currently in production of his
first loop collection cd to be released under the name "drumtherapy " in 2005. He
has received licensing and distribution deals with reputable loop disc companies Big Fish Audio
and M-Audio of Los Angeles.
Presently Mark resides in Los Angeles and is working with LA Bands Minus The Hope, and Humboldt Squid. He is actively
pursuing becoming a full time member of a signed national band as well as performing as a
member of signed artist back-up bands and teaching.
