Mark Desson
A guitarist and composer, Mark Desson was born in Quebec in 1957. He moved to Ontario in 1962. He has been playing the guitar since he was 5 years old. He took formal music lessons on a couple of occasions during the course of his life, but he was more interested in playing the guitar by ear because he found formal lessons too regimented. He was fond of trying to invent his own fingerings and chordal voicing using his own ingenuity. In 1990, he started experimenting with different tunings on guitar and found that he was virtually able to play his guitar in almost any tuning he could think up. He now plays his guitar in 55 tunings and he has invented his own tuning techniques, playing techniques that he has evolved into a very unique style. There is no musical theory involved here whatsoever. He does it all by using his ear and his God given gift. In 1993, he met Yves Rock, a songwriter. Their musical styles meshed together, and they developed an excellent musical collaboration. They started with the song, Message to Anastasia, and have been recording original music ever since. Yvess music covers a wide variety of styles that offer Mark a chance to arrange and compose unique guitar parts to compliment the songs.
