Mark Bannister
I'm a young guitarist from Wolverhampton, England. I've been playing a few years and my main influences are instrumental and prog rock by Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Dream Theater. When I'm not working on my own compositions, I enjoy recording covers of Vai and Satriani songs.
I am currently in a band with my friends. We won our school Battle of the Bands and should be getting some recording time soon so watch this space.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Mark began playing guitar at 12 years old, learning acoustic/classical style with the school guitar teacher. With great enthusiasm for the instrument, he studied hard to try and become good. After a year, he got an electric guitar. First playing punk before moving on to more complicated progressive rock and metal compositions, he has improved a lot in the last few years and continues to do so.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I play live in a few bands; a covers band with some friends, an original band with different friends and in a church youth band.I really enjoy playing live because I love the energy of the crowd. Best moment was seeing everyone in the room moshing when we played Killing in the Name at the Battle of the Bands comp that we won.
