Album LAunching: April 2006 P1/day Globe P1/day Globe P1/day Smart To Give RBT: Text RING GIFT 104713 (mobile number) and send to 286 P15/15 Days This funky band based in Cebu had its start when lead singer / songwriter Mano Sunico and guitarist Mike Mejorada first met and performed together in a dance group, while still in high school in Surigao province. (This was back in the late 1990s when groups such as Streetboys and Manouvers were very popular!) But music was the boys first love and after joining a couple of other bands, they decided to form one their own. But things got off to a rocky start when almost immediately two members decided to leave the band. Because of this the band went on hiatus till replacements could found, which fortunately they managed to do so. The band's current line up now includes Mano (mic & pen), Momoi & Deloi (guitarist), Miko (bass) and Zaryo (Drums). Aside from live performances at venues such as Handuraw -Cebu, Kahayag Cafe -Cebu, 70's Bistro, Freedom, Alkeys, Gweilos, Magnet, Mayrics, Purple haze and Saguejo, the group have managed to record their debut album "Ladies First", which is about the women in their lives or women they have known. One of the song from the album which critics raved about is "Nene", which is about the often told tale of a young runaway turned stripper being called back home. While the lyric and style of singing may bring to mind Freddie Aguilar's Magdelena or Anak, the use of drums, guitars and base reveals musical influences such as Jamiroquai and Incubus.
Band/artist history
MANOMANO was officially organized last May 2004. It was after two of their original bandmates left the group. Mano was left behind bombing around with only two songs. Good thing that there was this guy busted from a bad B to B relationship who happened to be a funky kick asz bass player. There and then, Mano decided to resurrect the band together with the old friend who was his former guitarist of his formed band to fill in the empty slot. MANOMANO is composed of 5 creative guys named Mano (the mic & pen of the band), Momoi & Deloi (guitarist), Miko (bass) and Zaryo (drums). These guys were very different from each other with regards to attitude, likes & dislikes. But then when it comes to music, theyre on the same wavelength, vision and direction.
