Malebolge
Malebolge formed in the winter of 2002 as a doom metal-influenced sludgecore band, drawing on the influences of Black Sabbath, Eyehategod, Grief and others to create a simple, driving and groove oriented sound. Every member has his own basis for inspiration, whether from dark literature, personal experiences or pure emotion, fusing into an immediately bleak, and yet undeniably angry, musical style. This is not hardcore punk's manufactured anger, nor is it ridiculous pseudo-satanic drivel in the vein of far too many of the so-called "death metal" bands out there. What we emit, sonically, vocally, rhythmically... it is us.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
We formed in 2002, the product of many nights listening to Eyehategod, Grief, and Black Sabbath while using many chemicals... before long, we all came upon the idea that we should create music, not just listen to it, and thus the band, nameless at this point, was formed. After our second jam session, I suggested that we use Malebolge, from The Inferno. Now, with a name and a clearer vision of our musical direction, we set out to destroy ourselves, and produce in that catharsis a living testimony of ourselves.
