Major Snagg
Pop/Rock, Psychedelic, Ambient, Rhythm & Blues and beyond.
Bringing Home The Ashes Bringing Home The Ashes
This is my second cover of a song by Wild Swans; As you may know, I'm a big fan of, 'Brit-Pop', music of the 1980s. Lots of very inventive new bands came onto the scene.
Home's Where The Heart Is Home's Where The Heart Is
A 'Brit-Pop' ? styled song. Lots of jangly guitars and a driving bass-line. Vocals and harmonies, and hopefully, catchy guitar riffs and solos
Under The Volcano (2025 version) Under The Volcano (2025 version)
This is a new, simpler, and 'stripped-down', version of this song. There is an earlier version that is much more, 'elaborate' in its arrangement. On the earlier version, Jesus Oldman added drums, trumpets and lively Cantina noises etc..
No One Can No One Can
A cover of a great song by Marillion. This is from their album, Holidays In Eden (1991). Their original vocalist, Fish (Derek Dick) had already left the band by this stage and this album features vocals by Steve Hogarth, the band's 'new', vocalist.
Heating Up The World ( In The Atomic Age ) Heating Up The World ( In The Atomic Age )
This is the kind of thing that I used to create a lot more of at one time. Once again, experiments with the Yamaha PSR-E373 keyboard delivered inspiration via some bubbling Synth sounds. Those led me to the correct 'rabbit-hole', to dive down ...

Major Snagg is the invented name of the 'band' that perform all my own musical creations. (songs and instrumentals). I play guitars, bass, rudimentary keyboards, harmonica, and sing. Melody has always been important to me... lyrics and guitar solos have to say or communicate something.
I create musical worlds that I hope that you dear listener, will also want to explore and live in for a few moments...or longer if you feel that way inclined.I've been playing since I was 16 (a long time ago now ) This is a necessary outlet for me, as I just can't stop playing and trying out ideas. The learning process just continues . . .
The first 'band' I was a member of was;-
'The Dead Popes' . . .Power Pop (1977/8), Drums, Bass, Rhythm guitars (2), Rhythm/lead guitar (me)
Aqua Vitae (1979/80), Drums, Bass, keyboard and Guitar (me).
Dolce Vita (1980/82) . . ., a proper Indie style pop/rock band. Drums, Bass, Rhythm guitar, Rhythm / lead guitar (me)
Silent Network, (1988/90) Electronic/Pop . . .Bass/Keyboards, Vocals, Guitars (me)Have you performed in front of an audience? In chronological order...The Beatles, John Mayall, Ten Years After, Be Bop Deluxe, Bill Nelson, XTC, The Flower Kings . . . far too many to list. All good Pop and Rock (and a little bit of experimental music)I own several very nice guitars. Mostly, but not all, made by Yamaha. My bass guitar of choice is a fire glow Rickenbacker 4003.
My recording system is very low tech. but I manage to coax a lot out of it. Enthusiasm, persistence and determination go a long way in helping me achieve what I do.
So, the bottom line is that it's not always the guitar you own, it's what you do with it.
The guitars that I own are all used in some kind of rotation...that way it justifies me having them. Some of them now sport little battle scars and dents... annoying but that's what you get with using them in a confined space... however they're all in pretty good shape for their age.Music making (for me) isn't something I can just turn on or off. I'm driven by music and vision. Once an Art student, always an Art student. So the musical and artistic journey goes forever on . . .
