Maine Street

Maine Street The Story so far: .Four piece Indie Rock band from Bournemouth Maine Street have established themselves locally as a force to be reckoned with. Grabbing traditional songwriting sensibility by the throat, kicking it round the room and handing it back wide-eyed, bloody and dazed... the band have developed a sound that has been described as 'Alternative Indie Rock with Balls'. They are now taking they’re music to the masses and plan to spend much of 2004 ensuring their music is listened to on a national scale Their sleepy aura - the product of living by the seaside for too long - is blasted aside when Maine Street take to the stage, ripping through their impressive sonic catalogue with a heady cocktail of guts and panache. If you want songs about life, love, small-town mentality and the ambition and yearning to break out then you're learning about the right band. Gigs are constantly sold out due to their anthemic sets, which they do so well, their live performances culminated in the band supporting signed Liverpool band ‘ The Bandits on their recent UK tour. The three part harmonies, which set Maine Street apart from many of the other bands in the same genre, have developed and evolved in to an integral part of the bands sound. In 2002 they released their debut album 'Songs From Point Zero' which is available in local HMV stores. This was recorded in Greenwich in the spring of 2002 and it is still considered a major achievement to get the album sold through a major music outlet in the UK without having the backing of a record company. The band have secured a number of dates at venues around the country to promote their new demo 'I'm In' which was recorded in late 2003 and 2004 is shaping up to be a good year for the band. The band has developed through the years and Maine Street appear to have found the sound they have been striving for. New demo ‘I’m In’ is a psychedelic swirl of driving guitars coupled with original three part harmonies and has been well received within the music world and this is just a taster of what the band are capable of. A real band, a real commitment, a real talent, in a real world . Maine Street are a very impressive outfit indeed!
