Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
HI, I am Tommy Vasquez the organizer of Madlove Collective. My history would be a long story, unfortunately I haven't got the time to tell it yet. Heres the jist. I liked music, my cousin was a drummer and showed me whats up real young. I later got totally into electronic music of every sort. I met musicians, took classes, jammed, saw events that changed my life, jammed, took classes, and it just goes on like that for a while till a few years ago I started playing shows that were freeform electronic energetic beats with crazy lightings and interaction with the audience. Later I played all kinds of shows and did my own promoting when I had to. Had no show shows, played college night clubs(2). Played radio in el paso, played coffeeshop, open mic's, and others and finally I took a brake to focus on school and now I am trying to get things regoing in denton texas. (forgive me for the long runon sentence but it gets the point)
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Yes,Any place that is comfortable enough to spend a good while in. But I am not picky, I personally will play just about anywhere,e.g. coffeeshops, bars, clubs, radio shows, colleges, keg parties, my backyard, outdoor events, wherever. There have been lots of special moments throughout the years. Unfortunately those only happen out of no where. When the stars align and people show up in the right mood, and i feel it, it just happens. The moment.
Your musical influences
chemical brothers, aphex twin, sasha and digweed, moontribe, psytrance, underground rave, Nin, FSOL, etc. My other influences were pink floyd, the cure, the doors, jimi hendrix, frank zappa, other sixties' bands, phish, jam bands, and everything that was ever surreal or psychadelic.
oh yeah, and all that classical and classic rock stuff too, heck what didn't i get influenced by. I catch myself humming radio songs even?! go figure!
What equipment do you use?
lots and lots or odd combinations of gear, computers, and instruments/audio
electribe ea1, sp202 sampler, fm synthesis engine, dr groove drum machine, roland vs880, gemini mixer and turntable, various triggers, roland full size piano trigger, mac laptop with programs, acid pro when i have access to a pc, electric guitar, acoustic, mics, what not?
Anything else?
