What's really really good New York City plus the world!! This Feature 23 representin' the Mad Flava Camp. It's been a while since I've recorded anything, some muhf*ckas are shady, but now I'm back after a long sabbatical. Whats good hip hop fans, I added a couple new songs to my page and got rid of alot of the old ones, alot of that stuff was garbage (not done by me) and never deserved to be on here in the first place. There' should be alot more stuff coming up in the near future, and if Don P. stops bein a lazy bastid we should be collaborating on a new mixtape coming up soon. Right now I'm working on my own mixtape which should be completed within a month or so, called The Darkside Mixtape Vol. 1. Gotta add Vol. 1 cuz U never know when its time to drop a Vol. 2.
Band/artist history
At about age 9 we started the East 83rd Street Posse, it was a group of like 8 or 9 of us. We had a little white radio with dinosaur stickers on it, no beats. We just rapped, mostly writtens but we freestyled something kinda wack once in a while. I think i've gotten so talented at writing rhymes and songs because I was writing at an early age. I hardly ever freestyled I always wrote as a kid. As early as I can remember writing rhymes in 3rd and 4th grade. Alotta dudes dropped out when we made our second "album", that one was just me and Don P when we used the keyboard for beats. Our 3rd project was Mad Flava, and that was our largest leap from just fuckin' around to wanting to be heard. When I moved to Staten Island at age 14 I was separated from the crew for a while, but Don P eventually moved out here to Shaolin too and we became reaquainted, made a tape called Back to the Motherland", made of hot songs with instrumentals. Shortly after we made a double CD called the Mad Flava Family LP, which featured MC's such as Con Artist, D-Money, "Avenue" Jay Payso, Big Pat, Fhatmanz, Jay-had, Corn da Theif, Heelz y Heelz, and PD Mac. I myself have released 2 solo LPs, one of which has mysteriously gone missing, the first one called The Lone Ranger, signifying my first solo project, and my 2nd called The Feature Presentation. My 2nd album title is where I got my present rap handle from (previously I was known as Dan da Man). Remixes and unreleased tracks off TFP include works done by me featuring Glory, Don P, and PD Mac. Right now I am in the process of building my own amateur studio, upon completion I should be pumpin out new tracks daily, eventually make an album and a demo. **Update** Far from a studio, but good enough to record songs and yes I will be bangin out tracks here and there. Check with the pages every Sunday for updates!
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We performed at Club Crystal in Park Slope...was a disaster, a fight broke out during the performance...we've been working on getting new shows here and there, but a lot of the artists are young, in the age ranges of 16-18, and they are basically working on developing as emcees and young producers. Don P and I, we're the oldest at 23, so we've been working on solo projects and demos.
Your musical influences
Tupac Shakur the TRUE greatest of all time, has been a big influence on me. His emotion and mic presence are unmatched. Also, I am a big Eminem fan, I appreciate the fact that he's one of the few industry cats who doesnt have to sacrifice dope lyricism to sell records. He doesnt do party or club tracks and stays true to himself, and he's still a success. I hope I can share the same success one day and possibly collaborate with him on a project some time...fhat
What equipment do you use?
A nice, custom built computer (compliments of E-Figgs), cool edit pro 2.0...Audio Technica AT-3035 Condenser Microphone, Creative Audigy platinum external sound card, my brain, voice box and lungs.
Anything else?
Yea, just wanna give a shout out to my peoples from way back, the whole 83rd Street click. Rest In Peace to my moms, I miss you and love you still, your influence is STILL felt to this day. To my little brother D-Money, he's got legal problems but hold ya head we know you innocent, just get your life on track before its too late. To my Staten Island and Brooklyn cats, stay up. Shouts to Nick and E-Figgs in upstate NY. Holdin it down for me in Bloomingburg, my M-Town (Middletown) heads and shit, i'll be up there shortly. Special props to Aries, keep bangin out hot beats, like the one on That's What's Up (track on soundclick was produced by him). Shouts to; E-Figgs, D. Money, Don P. J-Sean, Platnum Pinto, Fhatman, Con Artist, PD Mac, Heelz y Heelz, Young Da Don, C7, Crow from Harlem, Plottersville, Struck, O, Castro, Corn Da Theif, "Avenue" Jay Payso, Guttaboy Glory, Bling, my boy J from Rosebank, Spen Jiggy, the Profits, & Poison.
