The Way I Am The Way I Am

My first song... or, the fourth version of my first song. About my crazy life.

Christian Rap

There's a whole lot of fakers and copycats out there. Everyone and his brother's trying to be the next big white rapper. What makes you think I'm any different, meh? As John Reuben so nicely put it, "I really know there's nothing new under the sun, but yet, I want to do it like it's never been done." So have some fun, download some songs, and drop me an e-mail and tell me what you think. Constructive criticism is appreciated, and if you're interested in joining forces, I can arrange that.
Band/artist history
I've been a closet rapper ever since I found out I couldn't sing. I wrote my first song for a compilation of rappers at my high school that was never released. Four versions of that song later I released my EP . Recently I released another EP, , though with much less fanfare. A full length album, tentatively titled , will hopefully be released in late 2006, depending on how things go.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I play where and when I can. Usually it's as impromptu as someone saying "Hey Evan, rap for us!" but if I have a chance, I'll do a show. I did one recently for a late-night program at Furman, and I'm ready and willing to do it again! Give me a time, place, and three weeks notice (and expenses).
Your musical influences
Well, I really sound the most like John Reuben, both lyrically and musically, and I consider myself a student of Toby Mac and the old skool dc Talk. I also get a lot of influence from The Echoing Green, even though they're electronica and not hip-hop.
What equipment do you use?
I have an all-digital setup! On the hardware side I have an M-Audio Ozone (USB MIDI controller and audio interface) for hooking up microphones and getting input. For a microphone I have an MXL 990 condenser mic. Software I tend to use Myriad Melody Assistant for getting some basic MIDI licks, Apple GarageBand for some serious synth junk (and for audio recording), and Ableton Live for audio sequencing and loop manipulation. My central command unit is a GEEEEORGOUS!!! PowerBook G4 from Apple (15" screen 1.5 GHz 512MB 80GB and 128MB of video RAM!).
Anything else?
Nope, not really. Just vist my website! I've got a lot more there besides music.
