MacTalla Mo'r, Gaelic for Great Echo, features acclaimed Great Highland Bagpiper Jesse MO' Ofgang of Metro NY's famed Kenmure PipeBand on Pipes, Whistles and Percussion, his sister Ilana Regina Ofgang on Piano and Vocals, his brother Levon Ofgang on Bagpipes, their mom Patty Devlin Ofgang on Bodhran and renowned musicians from around the world on Sax, Bass and Drums.
They've played for HBO TV, at Steinway and Carnegie Hall in NYC, along side greats like Chick Corea and the Tito Puente Big Band, at Command Performances for The Average White Band, Rolling Stone's Kieth Richards and Jose Felician and to rave reviews at major Celtic Festivals. Called "the best Celtic Fusion Band I've heard" by Irish critic Joe O'Shea, Mac-talla Mo'r is quickly becoming one of the most talked about and sought after Celtic Bands on the scene.
Jesse MO' Ofgang began playing the Bagpipes at age 12. Ever since, he has left hands clapping and feet tapping wherever he goes. Trained by masters of a bygone era, legendary Pipe Majors Tommy Shearer and George M. Bell, Jesse has received a musical education the likes of which is rarely seen today. A much sought after commodity in the Bagpiping world, Jesse receives freguent offers to play and compete with Bagpiping bands from all over the country. He currently plays with Metro NY's esteemed Kenmure pipe band. His solo piping
has earned him numerous medals and trophies at
competitions throughout the U.S.A and Canada.
The lead Bagpiper for Mac-talla's high voltage brand of Celtic music Jesse's aggressive style was influenced by such rock and roll legends, as Jimmy Hendrix, Keith Richards, and Jimmy Page. His piping
takes the band and the audience to new heights.
Ilana Regina Ofgang's haunting vocals and finger swirling piano playing leads Mac-Talla through concert after concert. Her playing style draws from a diverse musical education. Classically trained in both Piano and Organ, Ilana has a degree in Jazz Piano, and has studied extensively such musical styles as Latin, blues, funk, and gospel. Ilana has been a Church organist and musical director for 5 years where she had the opportunity to hone her skills into a cohesive playing style. While singing
with gospel choirs Ilana was able to take her singing to the next level and learned to let loose and, "just let the music fill her." Ilana's playing fuses this conglomeration of musical styles into 88 keys and 10 fingers of pulsating, soul lifting Celtic piano playing.
The heart and soul of the band, Patty Devlin has been playing drums since grade school. The founder of Mac-talla she plays the ancient Irish drum known as the Bodhran. An Irish citizen Patty's passion for all things Irish goes back to the era of Julius Caesar's war against the Gallic tribes of Europe. Four years ago she decided to act on her passion for Celtic music and dove head first into Mac-talla and its music. As she tours the country laying down a solid Bodhran beat she has left her husband and children behind to wonder woefully who will cook dinner now?
Joining Mac-talla is an ensemble of some of the best musicians from New York, Texas and around the world. Pete Orlanski on Bass, Adam and Nadav Snir on Drums, Danny MO and John Beaty on Sax. These rising stars have played at top venues side by side with Jazz greats like John Faddis and Chick Corea. Their skill, energy and musicality has helped make Mac-talla one of the most versitile and exciting bands on the music scene today.

Mac Talla Mor, Pipe Dreams
Pipe Dreams, a CD recorded live (albeit a demo) by an incredible band called Mac Talla Mor is
one hot musical ticket indeed! In the world of Celtic-fusion, this band reigns supreme.
Their instrumentals grab you, move you and won't let you go as witnessed in the exotic and
rhythmic opening tune, "Claviness" with it Afro-Cuban influence backed by some fierce piping.
The Afro-Cuban influence is also heard in "Yo Mi Boy," an instrumental that also seems
reminiscent of the style of Moving Hearts where the saxophone interplays with pipes (in this
case, Scottish pipes) backed by intense percussion-wild, innovation stuff. And in gets even
wilder in tunes such as "Devil in the Kitchen," a 'can't sit through it without moving' tune which obviously drove the live audience on the CD wildand, the "Tener Pop Set" was just that with it's rocking edge showcasing Jesse Ofgang agile piping abilites as he moves about this set, musically, at hurricane force. His superb piping also shines in the sizzling instrumental "Man from Sky" and most expressively in the haunting "Track Helbound Train".
This is definitely one band to watch for in the future.
