Mac Dawg
If you ever bought a tape that was photocopied, and you were accosted by some weird white guy in grundge rock clothing to buy it for $1, then you probably met Mac Dawg.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Started back in 1995, when Kinsey 6 came out in May 1995. Mac Dawg was born in a trailer park on the boarder of Kent and Covington, Washington. Phil Moose and Mac Dawg recorded the album on a 4-track, with songs like "Cum on me baby" "Why do you suck?" "Deathtrap 2021" and much more. The first album sold over 100 copies. Eventually, Phil moved on to greener pastures while Mac Dawg performed with members of the band Music in the band Music. Crack Baby G and Mac Dawg continued recording from 1995-until 1997, when Mac and Crack took a chill until 1998. The second Mac Dawg album, Area 52, came out in August 1997. IT has hits like "Toyota Love" "Rims on my Ride" "Aliens" "Ricky got Busted" and much more. In september 1997, Mac Dawg moved to Shelton Washington, where he released 3 more albums, "Use Your Illusion 3 (with KB Smooth and the Sons of Jah)"(Oct.97) "Use Your Illusion 4"(Nov. 97) and "Mac Dawg 20/20"(Dec. 97). At this rapid rate of album releases, no one could stop Jah Dawg mon. He sold his tapes at Evergreen and on the streets of Shelton and olympia. People in Olympia were more receptive, so Mac Dawg moved to Olympia in January 1998. Also, the house he lived in Shelton was condemned by the city, so living in Shelton was not a viable option. In January 1998, Mac Dawg met Toby, who played on the 6th mac dawg album "greetings from planet olympia"(Feb. 98), with hits like "Beeper Beeper" Space Knockin Rockers From Outer Space" "Fly Honey" and "666 777 I'm on an airplane" The 6th album was probably one of the biggest Mac Dawg album sellers (more than 400 copies). Also, this was the first mac dawg album to also be released on CD(even though initially there were not as many CDs as tapes). The 7th album "This One's For the Rottweilers" came out in MArch of 98, containing songs like "Spoons and Knives". The 8th album "Get Your Friends High $1" came out in June 98. By this time, Mac Dawg had sold more than 1000 albums on tape. The numbers kept gaining because Mac Dawg got free tapes from Kill Rock Stars and K to record over. Also, since people in Olympia knew that Mac Dawg liked tapes, he received a hella amount of free tapes. The tapes sold for $1 until the 9th album "Mac Dawg's Discount World", which came out in September 98. Discount World had two songs recorded on computer (a first for Mac Dawg albums) "I wanna roll with you" and "Tacoma Discount World" and hella more songs like "Satan Versus Alan Thicke" and "Gina Gets a Pimple". Discount world started off at $1, but eventually went up to $2, which shocked many folks (even though most tapes cost $10 at the store). The tenth album "Ten" came out in January 99, featuring MArcoleptic from the previous album on drums. Ten has songs like "Jeremy's in Spokane" and "180096JERRY". A hit, a hit. The 11th(White Cars With Ski Racks) and 12th(Do you love me Brittany Spears?) albums came out in July 99 and August 99. The 13th album (Hits of the 90's) came out in November 99, with Scott from Human Jukebox on the drum machine, lars and cj on other cool shiznit. The 14th(Feb 2000) Mac DAwg Album(The SEattle Police Sell Meth) was recorded right after going to jail with Dan, Lars, and Cheech and Chong. The 14th album has songs like "The prosecutors tripping on Acid" and "Gothic Grundge Girl". For album #15(Hotel Arcata California), Mac Dawg hooked up with REL on drums and other instruments. REL and Mac Dawg went on to record two more albums, number 16(Sun Symbol) and #17(Chinese Democracy). After #17, REL moved to Boston and that final Mac Dawg album came out in April 2002(Dad From Alf Smoking Crack), featuring Cindy Wonderful, Josh from Friends Forever, and McNuts.
