Maccles Lake Cabin Jammers
Maccles Lake Cabin Jammers
Hey, the Maccles Lake Cabin Jammers are just a three person acoustic rock band that me and a couple friends put together at a party one night. We got a good resposne and started a few gigs around town. We're not in it for anything big and probably aren't going to pursue anything outside of this town, just do it for the love of playing. We're mainly a cover band of a lot of the great old acoustic tunes. Sometimes we like to incorporate a little electric lead into our songs, which is of course the part that I enjoy the most. :) We do have one album released to the general public just in town entitled "Up Da Trussell" which is named after a location near a popular party spot here. The album is a compilation of covers as well as a bunch of humorous skits that we have written ourselves. We're not really that talented, but we have fun doing it!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play a few small live gigs in town during special events such as winter carnival and school events, nothing big. Playing live is highly enjoyed by all the members of the band, playing in front of a crowd gives you that extra little bit of satisfaction and it's great fun. The most special moments we have are when we pack up the guitars and get a crowd to go to the cabin and play at parties.
Your musical influences
Most of our music is based on the popular old classic rock tunes from bands like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bob Dylan and Neil Young. I personally have had a great influence from my grandfather, and love the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn and BB King. We're all similar in our tastes, but we each have a slighty different background which allows us to bring something unique to the band as a whole.
What equipment do you use?
Will uses a Washburn electric acoustic, Drew uses a Kona electric acoustic and I (Matt) switch between a Raven acoustic and a Gibson electric acoustic, as well as using a 1971 American Standard Fender Stratocaster when we're in need of an electric lead. We usually run through the PA system of the place where we're playing, but sometimes we run through Drew's 1960's Fender Super Twin Reverb and Will likes to play through his Fender Frontman when we're playing for a small crowd.
