Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Hilda "Paige" and Howard Melbourne form Mel and Paige Productions aka “M2P” began singing at the young age of 6. Through the years she sang in her father’s church, at school, in choirs, and eventually formed a band with her husband, Howard, and a friend, Brian.
They started their musical career in Collingwood, ON, as Cherokee Rose. Within a year they were performing their shows at Atlantic City’s "Resorts International Hotel and Casino" with a seven-piece band and a repertoire that included jazz, R&B, pop, reggae and calypso etc. Following this electric experience they went on to tour the Bahamas and the United States. Subsequent travels have also given them the pleasure of singing to Eastern Canadian audiences from Toronto to Newfoundland.
In 1981 they returned to where they started, Collingwood, ON. And secured a long-term contract with Blue Mountain Inn, Ontario’s largest ski resort. There they performed for two years, utilizing this time to highlight and sharpen their natural talent of vocal harmonies, which they consider the key to their success. Another contract led them to performing a Las Vegas Review Variety Show, at one of Ontario’s largest summer resorts, the Deerhurst Inn & Country Club in Huntsville. Here they did choreographed dancing with 30 other performers and were two of the seven singers in the Review, doing solos and duets. After an exciting, yet exhausting four years they took a “working holiday gig” for five months on a cruise ship in the Caribbean. Upon their return, they began touring more of Canada to expand their fast growing fan club. They were also the house band at he owl nest in Grandview Resort & Conference Center (which is now Club Links Resort) . During that time they were able to develop his recording styles and landed a recording contract in the United States with IMG INTERNATIONAL.
