Band/artist history
The Life of...L.A.S. L.A.S. was born on July 29th, 1979. He's the son of Dominican/Spaniard parents who raised him in the Bronx, NY. From day one L.A.S. was the crowd pleaser, the one who all the little kids wanted to be around. He loved attention from day one. Always tried to make everyone smile. Because of this he developed many friends and enemies, most of which have endured years of trials and turbulations. Throughout all of that happiness he always tried to forget his troubles. His mom was a victim of domestic violence and he vowed to be different. He always looked up to his older brother Mike until tragedy struck and his brother was shot in front of his own eyes at the young age of 12. L.A.S. will always remember his brother. You see, he was special to him. He always lead him the right way. Put him down to music, especially Hip Hop. L.A.S. knew that his brother loved Hip Hop with all of his heart. This turn of events was what changed L.A.S.' life forever. He started listening to his brother's music (Rakim, KRS-One, Run DMC etc), this was the only thing that made him feel closer to his brother. He started getting into Hip Hop more and more; so much that he loved it just as much; maybe more. He started writing and rhymin' that same year. He would do it as entertainment and have fun with it until one day his boy Rob asked him to spit a verse and that's when he established some street credibility. He soon after started battling cats from Clinton High School and then his cousin introduced him to DJ KC. DJ KC then asked him to spit a few verses and he liked it so he decided to have L.A.S. do his mixtape intro. After getting local props from DJ KC's mixtape throughout his High School and Bronx streets, He then met Sunny Blacc and together they formed a group called "Prime Time" with DJ KC as their producer. They made an album titled "Assasins" which they sold numerous copies of to the neighborhoods and high schools. In the middle of their sophomore year Sunny Blacc moved to VA and it led to the group's separation. During his sophomore year, while L.A.S. was participating in a High School battle, he was amazed by the lyrical skills of a cat named Tommy Toe Tag who L.A.S. then recruited to be part of his "Prime Time" crew. Soon thereafter, Tommy Toe Tag introduced L.A.S. to Debut. They did a couple of mixtapes with DJ KC but two years later they had a fallout due to DJ KC's lack of motivation. A year later Debut became good friends with a co-worker named Cesar (Julius Cesar 535) who owned a studio out in Queens. The crew changed their name to "Major Leegue" but after a few copyright issues they changed their name to "The Leegans", short for Major League and Legionnaires and started recording with Julius Cesar. They soon started making tracks together and made a self titled debut album called "Leeganaires". It became a ritual to go to the studio and make that new track every week. If they missed one week, they made two tracks the next. This was their hang out time, their time to grow as a group. They then decided to do their own solo projects. L.A.S. brought to us his debut solo album titled "E-Clipse". After the album was done L.A.S. felt he didn't give the album his full potential and scrapped the whole project. and went back to the lab. A year later in 2002, he released his self-titled album "Luv And Sinz". The beats were crazy, his style unheard of and his imagination ran wild. He received a lot of love for it. Fans started appearing out of nowhere showing him love. He was happy because that's what he strived for all along; satisfaction from his fans. He felt "Luv And sinz" was good for underground cats but he wanted more street credibility. L.A.S. took his underground flow and stepped it up a notch with some street-related issues. That's when he dropped the "Equilibrium Mixtape" which consists of songs that didn't make it to the "Luv And Sinz" album and freestyles. In the summer of 2003 he hooked up with his co-producer Lil-L and moved to GA. There, she convinced L.A.S. that he has more skills than he was aware of. L.A.S. became so hungry with his music that he decided to make another album. He knew this was it, the one that would make him shine. He hooked up wth Sean Clyde of Dark Corner Productions. He worked extra hours just to make some tracks. He hardly slept because he had ideas flowing through his head. After many long hours and 100 cups of coffee, the "Equilibrium" album was officially done. This is truly his work of art. Just about every song on the album was done by a different producer which shows that L.A.S. was 100% focused. With tracks like "Here 2 Stay" (Produced by Sean Clyde), "Where the Streets At" (Produced by DJ Wild) and "E-Mail" (Produced by Lil Kell), you will not see Hip Hop the same way. He's not the type to flash about his clothes and his car, he talks that real stuff, what you've been waiting to hear for a long time. He is truly a breath of fresh air. No one can deny his talent and dedication, his versatility and creativity. He even puts a little laughter in his album with the skit "'Ol Skool Pimp". L.A.S. is destined to shine and it's all a matter of time. He's like a ticking bomb waiting to explode so be ready because L.A.S. is coming... Throughout his career he's done various performances in New York City clubs and in Georgia. He has also won numerous freestyle battles making him untouchable.. L.A.S. hopes to change the rap game. He believes that it needs a makeover and he's the perfect artist to do just that. With Hip Hop fans across the country complaining about how Rap music has lost it's touch, he realizes that it's his time. He's not the type to flash about cars and clothes, that's old and played out. He believes that Rap music should be a movement, one that will move crowds, excite the public and at the same time have a big influence on Hip Hop itself. All he needs is the chance to show and prove what he has to offer. If you give him that chance he will deliver, no doubt about it. His dream is to be heard, to show just how much he loves this thing called Hip Hop. In his eyes making it big and taking over the charts will be easy, if only he can get that open door. He wants to be the one to uplift sprits and make the world feel a common bond. He wants to be the voice of those that can't be heard. Being a natural leader, drawing fans from different ages, backgrounds, and races is something he's been able to do and lets him know that he is almost there. In due time labels will be calling his name, asking him to sign with them. He hears this basically everyday from people who listen to his music and respect it. They are shocked to hear that he is not signed and are dissapointed by it. He knows it can happen and he will make sure that it does. When he does, it will be the fans who will thank him for saving Hip Hop music.
