Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
I began my verbal assault at 8 years old. Growing up in Colorado I didn’t have any “local” artists to look up to so I idolized world renowned Hip Hop Icons such as the late great Tupac Shakur & Notorious B.I.G, Bone Thugz N Harmony & The Luniz. My first “rhymes” were actually poetry turned music. Every line I’d write was symmetrical with the last. Even back then when writing I was VERY critical in my work and that is a trait that has remained within me to this day. I really started writing actual songs when I turned 11 years old and I would write 3 or 4 verses a day but if I didn't like the final product I'd scrap it. A lot of my childhood peoples couldn't understand why I would literally throw away so many of my rhymes but then again they never understood my passion for music either. If I wasn’t feeling my own work it had no business staying in my rotation. The very 1st group I formed, we called ourselves Diamondz N Da' Ruff . The crew consisted of me (Then called Siriuz) my childhood friend Chris (Rigal) and Lewie (Craze). Rigal & I went to school together and Craze was a friend we met around the way. We would sit around all day and freestyle to a cassette tape of instrumentals I put together and we would talk about what we thought we needed to do to make it in the music industry. As most childhood cliques turn out though we went our separate ways and out of the 3 of us I am the only one currently pursuing my music. Freshman year in high school, (LHS/GHS, 2000) I met this cat who went by the name of Anile . He hadn't been pursuing music as I was at the time but he had shared the same vision as I did. We started kickin’ it and putting together actual songs (Full Length Tracks) and attending local hip hop shows together. This is also when I adopted the name Cydal (LuniCydal). At Golden High School there were a few people doing some music that I got up with and we put together a Freestyle MixTape but nothing more than that. I left Golden in 2000 and with that came separation from all the people I was once affiliated with while residing there ...................................................................................... ENTER THE ABYSS 2001. East High School. The TRUE beginning of Cydal. By this point, I was writing KRAYZIE I would write 3 full songs a day so by the time I got to East I had already developed a unique style all my own. My lyrics were hot, my delivery was on point & people were really feeling my work. Now keep in mind at East I was the minority and to add fuel to the raging fire I was rapping so that brought a lot of attention my way. Both good and bad. I was into slanging, robbing, fighting, anything I could do 2 get into some trouble This is where I met my partner in rhyme Yung Scribe. I had an extensive clique I'd ride with and we all were about smoking, rapping and ridin’ on anybody We would hold daily freestyle sessions lasting over an hour straight at some times. During my year at East High School, the school hosted a freestyle battle competition and of course I participated in it. It was a 3 round elimination bracket and I made it to the final round. I would never get to participate in the finals because they called off the competition after a couple performers got into it on a physical level. In the middle of the school year I got expelled from East, but still stayed close to my people from East. A High School drop out at this point, I would kick it downtown and hook up wit numerous different emcees and crews one of which being “C'kret Society Entertainment” which at the time consisted of Baliztic, Da'Ze, and Scrilla Scratch. The day after meeting' Baliztic, he had me in a studio session with him at 'The Spot' where I featured on my 1st professional track titled Gangsta which was a Baliztic cut. Unfortunately our version of the song never hit the streets though. I was a part of the street team for awhile and during that time I took part in an event 'The Spot' held for emcees (Block Party) and performed some of my work in front of a live crowd. During that same time period I met Prophecy (Now 80 Generationz) and we formed a group by the name of DCR (Denver City Rydahz) which consisted of Yung Scribe, Prophecy, Myself & Venomous. We tried recruiting numerous different talents into the group but we felt like nobody was really on the same level we were on so we kept it at 4 artist. I recorded my 1st demo with Prophecy & Venomous (Also Featured TRUE Dub) titled LXE: The MixTape in 2004. Yung Scribe was absent from the project due to a bid he got caught up in a few months prior. The demo was a 4 song demo with the last track being a solo track of mine. We pushed a couple hundred units locally and I pushed a couple hundred more out in Illinois as well. As it would seem, we were well on our way but as fate would have it, we had our differences and went our separate ways. In 2006, Yung Scribe was released from jail and immediately got to working on music. We collaborated with Half Breed from EDH/Expect More Records to record “We Back”. That was the 1st track that Yung Scribe and I had done together but it certainly wouldn’t be the last. Fast forward to 2007. Myself and Yung Scribe connected with “80 Generationz” and had been working extensively on a few different projects. We performed at Bruno’s during a talent audition for Warner Bros. and Sony Music in November 2007. We recorded 2 tracks under “80 Generationz” (1 Collaboration, “Style Ain’t Free” and 1 Solo “Me Against Tha World”) and during the same time period I have been working INDEPENDENTLY on my debut album "Tha Prodigy". Now, at 22 years of age, I have much more material ready to go, and much more to come. I look forward to my future as a “Hip Hop Artist” and I consistently bring FIRE on every track I get on. I’m Comin’ 2008!!! Y'all Ain't Ready!!! http://www.myspace.com/lunicydal E-Mail - cydal_5280@yahoo.com
