Luke Sciberras
My names luke. im a sixteen year old guitarist from geelong in australia, ive been playing guitar for 3+ years now and i play alot of different styles of guitar. these tracks on my soundclick page are originals that ive written hoping to attract and get members to start a band up with me so i can play them
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Last in Line: August 2008- Jan 2010:
my first serious band was called last in line, we started out as a cover band, but then naturally grew and wrote our own songs, but i left in jan 2010 due to commitment issues that they didnt commit to the band enough as i felt they should have
New band: December 2010- present:
i currently have a new band. it took alot of work to get one as my confidence was still broken by my old band. but were slowly getting there and soon recording our demo and start gigging
-
"Sexual Crumpet" side project with Justin Estcourt: March 2009- Present
this is something me and my friend justin do for fun, we make a mixture of genres and just record em and post the songs on youtube under justins music account name
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
i currently do not, i have a band but where still in the writting process and preparing to record our demo. but i have performed for school and it was such an exhilerating experience
Your musical influences
Ive gone through so many phases with music since i started, but i can say my skills as a guitarist have set and will most likley not get much better so when i wanted to develop and get better i would always reference:
- Buckethead: the first real guitarist i loved, i always loved his speed and offbeat appearance, but his style of melody to me is amazing and is still one of my favourite guitarists
- Michael Angelo Batio: i always loved michaels speed and i still do and i developed a few techniques and patterns from watching him play
- Mark Tremonti: although i never really learnt much from his guitar work, i learnt from his writting style and its still a big influence on me today
- Misha "bulb" Mansoor: Bulb and periphery have influenced my love of progressive music and it changed my outlook on my style of music and writting techniques
- Randy Rhoads: i always loved randy's work, his tapping licks still give me shivers and his cool killswitch techniques are still amazing.
- Cog: this band are my favourite band ill never get sick of them and im influenced to be like them!
