My father was a Pro Jazz musician, and I spent a lot of time sitting at the soundboard in venues while he played. Over the years I learned the art of sound reinforcement and 'mixing'.
When Windows based computing arrived I started to toy with sequencers and virtual sound synthesis. Fripp, Eno, and Kraftwerks (amongst others) "sound manipulation" exercises became my inspiration for using virtual electronic machines to create what I term SPACE MUSIC.
The inference relates both to the 'feel' of the music as well as what the medium actually does, which is 'fill space' in the listeners physical sphere of influence, as well as the mental space within the listeners mind.
Obviously this is directly taken from Eno's Ambient Music, and at this point it is not unique.
Regardless, this 'sound painting' is still what I love to create the most.Have you performed in front of an audience?Rarely, This music is too complicated for one person to generate without playing pre-recorded tracks during a performance.
