Lorayne is that rare artist: hit songs released and doing well along with energy, vibe, talent, looks, sound and drive, all rolled into one. A cancer survivor for five years in 2006, she writes and sings from a place that few of today's stars can.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
I've played live in North America, Europe and Australia. I have two speeds: either focused on recording, or focused on traveling.
Your musical influences
Great books, cult TV and film soundtracks, and that peculiar headspace between wake and sleep. I get a lot of ideas during the dream state, from movie soundtracks, TV shows and appreciate a great pop song full of meaning, great riffs and hooks. If I write something that gives me that spine-tingling little chill, then I know I've really got it.
What equipment do you use?
I play a Taylor 6-string acoustic (the 812C), a Gibson Nitehawk electric guitar and various keyboards. Mics I use include Neumanns (TLM 103, U87, others), NTK (Various) and Studio Projects (C1). I program in Cubase and Pro Tools, and use Adobe Audition for editing vocals, other individual tracks and for post-production.
Anything else?
I've had cancer and lost everything, so I couldn't afford to produce crap. Expect only the best from me.
