Lokust is a rap artist from North Fort Myers, Florida. He was born June 21, 1988 as a pre-mature baby, who has Cerebral Palsy, and the doctors said he would not live past his first hour of life. But by the grace of God, he is now 19 years old (almost 20). Lokust (Born William Arciszewski) is known all over South-West Florida for his rap style, as well as his superb production talent. He did work with many artists through out the United States. He signed a contract with Evil Music Industry Records(EMI) in mid-2007, Lokust then released his 1st real solo album on December 7th, 2007 (although he released a pre-mature album the summer of 2005, and then in late 2006 The Angel Of WAR was not released), and it is entitled God Complex. It is totally produced by Lokust himself, with a couple guest produced tracks by his long time friend Claygo The Don. Due to complications with royalties, among other personal reasons, Lokust left EMI Records after only being signed with them for a short period of time. Now months after that albums release, he is a "free agent" and he is back in the studio again, working on a new project that he is calling "Enemy Of The State". In an interview conducted in February of 2008 on a live internet radio broadcast he explained "My last album reflected alot of pain, it really had no up-beat tracks on it, so with this album I switched up my production techniques, as well as my lyrical delivery, I have well surpassed all of my prior projects with this one." That statement proved to be true when he released the first single called "Dip Low" in late February, gaining alot of attention from different major record labels, as well as the attention of hundreds of new fans. He did have some difficulty gaining support for the new single from a local radio station based out of Fort Myers, Florida, 105.5 THE BEAT. "I know they have had well over a thousand requests to play my single." Explained Lokust in the interview. "I just feel like they don't want to play it because I don't have a major label name behind me, and with all the rumors about me they probably don't want to take a chance on promoting me because they are afraid that there could be consequences if they do." But even with the odds stacked against him Lokust remains positive on the album's potential. "I ain't commercial" says Lokust. "In fact, the only reason there are any club tracks on this album is because they are real experiences I have gone through. Every time I write a song I don't add any filler-bullshit to who I am. I keep it as real as possible when it comes to my music, because that's me in real life. I don't have to impress anybody, I don't have an image problem. Which is why I don't ever see myself getting a major deal, I'm not willing to sell out who I am as a person, I refuse to sell my soul. Even with that being the case, I think I will sell high units independently, and if I ink a deal with a major distributor, I might even go platinum without having to sell out." Recently, Lokust did a collaboration with an upcoming artist from his city named Cronik. He produced and did the chorus and first verse for Cronik's first hit "All The Way" which earned Cronik a spot on Slip N Slide Record's On The Grind series. "Well that song with Cronik" explains Lokust. "It happened by accident. Cronik really wanted to do a song with me, and given past mistakes I've made, I limit how many collaborations I will do with people. If you want me to make you a beat, it starts at $1,000. That's the starting point. It goes up depending if you need me to do a hook, if you want me to master the track to red book specifications, etcetera, etcetera." then Lokust went on to say "So Cronik knew that off the rip, so he gave me 1200 to start, and ending up paying close to 1500 at the completion of the song." The money was well spent because now Cronik is closer than ever to possibly signing a contract with Slip N Slide. When Lokust was asked if he would ever consider becoming mainstream he said: "Only if they'll let me have complete creative control over my image and my sound. If they can give me that, then hell yeah, I would do it." Expect to hear alot more from Lokust in 2008, I am confident he will be making his presence known in the music industry.Band/artist history
