Band/artist history
LO-KI FAMILY
Lo-ki Family, Birmingham’s most spoke of music collective! The group consists of 16 members which incorporates rappers, singers, producers, songwriters, radio presenters, workshop facilitators and all round artistes.
Originally, Lo-ki was a 4 man group formed in the summer of 2000, whose members were KMD (22), Amnesia (22), TG (21), and MDR (19). 4 quickly became 5 when Gizmo (19) ‘came home’. From there on Lo-ki gained its additional members, Trixsta (19), HM (23), X2DA-C (20), Chronic (21), Smash (18), Whispa (18), Acid (15), BD (14), Lo-ki Rugrats and the 3 singers Toni (19), Kay (20) & Bex (19).
Lo-ki started out as a DJ crew, who went on various pirate radio stations around Birmingham playing Bashment, Hip-Hop and R&B. As UKG became more popular they decided to go with the flow and move on to the Garage scene and believe they crushed the place! Lo-ki began headlining all the under 18 garage raves and was the last crew standing after ‘Elimination’ (a garage crew clash to see who were the UKG kings of Birmingham) at the notorious ‘La Mystiques’ nightclub October 2001. At the start of 2003 as garage raves were always getting locked off, Lo-ki decided to flip the script and roll on the Hip-Hop scene. It was time to take this to the next level!
Lo-ki are currently distributing their first ‘official’ mixtape ‘Come to Mek Some Noise!’ the first vol. out of the ‘Seriously Hectic Mixtape’ collections and are currently working on album tracks.
As well as being part of the group some members have their own separate projects. Kmd is setting up his record label Seriously Hectic Records (SHR), TG is constructing his clothing company FNC and Gizmo is looking forward to set up a music promotion agency. SHR already has 3 artistes signed to the label, Kapo the Weird (19), Lil’ Kiesha (18) and Lil’ Mob (15). Kapo & Lil’ Kiesha are currently working on their debut albums and have featured on the ‘Come to Mek Some Noise’ Mixtape. Look out for SERIOUSLY HECTIC MIXTAPE Vol. 2 IT’S TOO LATE hosted by Agent Moulder & Grafh!
