L-LaMent
Conway South Carolina producer, L-LaMent (pronounced as element) represents all the diffrent genres that make music whole. When it comes to the beats and the songs that I create, I have no boundaries. Sounds that range from classical to folk, from soul to rock, but HIP HOP remains at the core of it all. All original beats and songs created under my own L-MT Productions and my crew, Converse and Franilla of CHildProof Records. Keep Checking News for frequent updates and give your thoughts on my beats in the message board.
Band/artist history
I started making beats when I was in the 9th grade when I got a Yamaha DJX as a gift. ever since I've have been obsessed with the world of music; It's like crack to me now. I can't even walk into a CD store with out spending at least 30 minutes listen to stuff. I met my partners CJ and Charles (aka Converse and Franilla) when I was in the 11th grade and it was then that I really became serious about my music. I am now attending USC Upstate where i am continuing to imporve my skillz.
Your musical influences
I first inspiration came from Timbaland; he will forever be my idol. As I grew I came to admire the free spirits of artists like Outkast, Eryka Badu, The Roots, Mos Def, K-Os, RJD2, Little Brother, Floetry, and Common Sense (as far as HIP HOP goes) I gain inspiration from all of these as well as foreign groups like Outlandish, The Beatles, Asian relaxation instrumentals, European, Indian, and African music as well. What ever makes me feel good, though I am firmly rooted in Hip Hop Culture.
What equipment do you use?
The Traditional studio set up mostly. I still have the DJX, a mixer (MD8), a few vocal mic's, and a CD burner; The bare bones. I also use Fruity Loops and Acid Music (For Sampling).
Anything else?
I am (FINALLY!!!) currently in the music production stages of my upcoming solo album, "The Varisty Blues"!!!! Things are coming along slowly but surely and I hope to start promotional advertising around February following final mixing and mastering of the tracks by late May of 2006. This isn't definite, but if I stay on track things should go smoothly.
