Litmus - Space Rock
Litmus produce driving, powerful music which will take you on a cosmic journey to somewhere that nobody has ever been before. Litmus have just completed their third album, entitled Aurora, which will be released by Rise Above Records in 2009.
This is spacerock as you have never heard it before!
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Litmus ARE spacerock for the 21st century. A collection of throbbing bass, pounding drums, searing guitar, swirling keyboards and screeching electronics, they are here to open heads and recalibrate minds.
The band have played gigs all over the UK and Europe, as well as appearing at festivals in the UK, Germany and the Netherlands.
Their previous two albums, You Are Here and Planetfall, have received massively positive reviews from rock and metal magazines and websites internationally.
Live shows are an audio-visual extravaganza of projections, images and sounds, all taking the audience on a journey to the far reaches of both outer and inner space.
A massively powerful live presence, Litmus need to be seen to be believed!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We have played live in the UK and Europe; some of the greatest moments have been playing at Roadburn in 2008 when the crowd were spilling over into the corridor outside the hall. Also, playing at Burg Herzberg in 2008; we were delayed by an hour by a massive rainstorm and, when we arrived on stage, masses of people appeared. What really amazed us was that they knew the words to our songs. When we came offstage, the stage crew insisted that we do an encore.
Your musical influences
Hawkwind, Gong, Julian Cope, Electric Wizard, strange noises, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Paul Masson. To be honest, all sorts of music; not just heavy rock.
What equipment do you use?
Lots and lots of it; Julian Cope described us as being "a festival in our own right". The band consists of:
Mr Marek - Drummer (who sometimes sings!)
Martin - Bass Player (who sings)
Fiddler - Guitarist (who sings)
Oli - Synth/Keyboard player
Anton - Wibbly noise making genius and owner of the magic hands.
Anything else?
This is space rock with the emphasis on the "ROCK"! Litmus are very, very loud!!!
