Lister
“Bob Dylan meets the Beach Boys”
Since 1997, brothers Stuart and Michael Lister along with drummer Marco Rayes have been navigating the inner landscapes of peace, faith, love, sex and redemption. Formed in their hometown of Ottawa, Canada, Lister’s brand of pop-rock marries vulnerable lyrical introspection, melodic explosive hooks and groove based back beats.
September 2000 saw Lister’s first full-length release entitled Half-Built Set, which was recorded in Ottawa and mixed at Metalworks in Toronto by Ed Krautner (Tea Party, Tonic). The disk includes So Real which received national radio airplay and featured Half As Good which appeared on the WB Television Network’s Dawson’s Creek and Party of Five television series.
RCD Music & Bhurr Records were quick to include Lister’s So Real on IndieBlast 2000, Molson Canadian’s Indieblast Sampler, and Clearnet’s A Little Bit of Canada. All compilations were released nationally.
The band spent the winter of 2001 working in a new bass player at a weekly house gig in Ottawa after returning from a series of shows in Los Angeles in the fall. The summer of 2001 sees the band maintaining a busy performance schedule, return to the studio, and preparing for a permanent move to Los Angeles club-land in early August.
