Lilla
A lush, lethargicaly sultry voice with deep rich soulful tones and silky harmonies that could melt the coldest of hearts. A classically trained pianist and vocalist, Lilla's unique voice has led her to work on a variety of projects including live Dub sessions with the legendary 'Mad Professor', licensing of tracks to U.S series', house recordings with DJ/producer Dave Brennan, various hip-hop and d&b producers, Indie bands and, of course, her work with Antidote - downtempo nu-jazz influenced masters of ambience. More recently, work with subthunk - fresh from L.A with their crazy electronic ideas and funk-filled shennanigans, leading to licencing of tracks for use in T.V shows in the U.S. Lilla is also currently involved in various session work.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
These are a few clips and snips and bobs and bits of various projects i've been involved and evolved in.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Whenever I get the chance. I've toured all over Europe and the UK in venues as wicked and random as festivals in Italy to the...wicked and random locals in Camden.
Nothing can beat the feeling of letting my alter-ego out to play with the minds of an effervescently elated, or even mildly sedated, audience - as long as they listen...
Your musical influences
Musical influences....well obvious bands like Massive Attack, Goldfrapp, Portishead & the Warp label have their influences in my writing. Further down the line Hendrix, acid jazz, Herbie Hancock, Motown & Philli sounds, Pink Floyd, 80's trashy pop, dub & regge, classical, Dave Pike, 60's R&B and rock, Sly & the Family Stone, Old skool hip hop, Gospel, funk, and so so much more...
What equipment do you use?
mirrors and a speak & spell.
Anything else?
I unfortunately have a day job at the mo and really should get on with some of the work i've been pretending to do for the last hour or so...
