The perfect combination of indie guiter rock and pop
Life in Bed was formed in the waning days of 2001 after the demise of Pittsburgh’s Manifold Splendor.
Taking the name, Life in Bed off of the magnetic poetry adorning a refrigerator, the four remaining members of manifold splendor decided to give it another go. The band started churning out songs and soon enlisted good friend, Jason Jouver at Pittsburgh’s plus/minus studios to record 7 songs to be used as a demo. ”The Christmas EP” was never officially released, but 2 of the tracks eventually found their way onto Life in Bed’s upcoming full length debut, “Two Point Perspective.” In July of 2002, original bassist, Dave Horn decided to leave the band and pursue personal interests (ie. get married, school).
Bidding Dave a fond farewell, the remaining members approached Handle guitarist, Christopher James about taking over the empty bass slot. Chris accepted and has since brought his expertise as a musician, gear junkie and overall nice guy to the band. With Jason Jouver (Creta Bourzia, Don Cabellero) manning the boards once again, the band re-entered plus/minus studios in early 2003 to begin tracking for ”Two Point Perspective” slated for an October 2003 release.
Two Point Perspective encompasses influences ranging from the band’s love of 80’s pop icons The Smiths and The Cure to the more aggressive sounds of the mid 90’s Chapel Hill scene while maintaining a fresh take on what made these sounds great.
Presently, Life in Bed continues to tour regionally and has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with such great bands as Minus the Bear, Trans Am, The Forms, The Promise Ring, The Red and The Black, Aspera, Pilot to Gunner, The Six Parts Seven, Hey Mercedes, Maritime and Adam Franklin of Swervedriver.
