Letha Allen first played on stage when her mom entered her into a talent contest, with her first original, also written at age 12. She has played in a bluegrass gospel band with her family, a country band called Shotgun for 2 years, a classic rock band called Crossroads which performed for 12 years and was the house band for the Wolverine Bar in Chelsea for many of those, and recently a Bluegrass trio called Letha Allen and the Benders. She was also the director and MC of a bluegrass festival for the "Day in the Village" in Stockbridge Michigan for 9 years. She has previously recorded in Nashville at Gene Breeden Studio and with Old Homestead Records and has had radio airplay with some of her originals. Her writing and vocals are real and heartfelt. Her life experiences and the mixture of the many Genres she has loved and performed are plainly evident in her writing and deliverance.

Letha Allen-performed at the Nashville Songwriter fest in 2008, receiving the honor of "Top 24" for her original CD, Cowboys and Trains.
1st place at River folks Festival 2009, Manchester MI (Original Song)
1st place at "Bluegrass in the Park" 2009 Songwriting contest. (Original Song)
1st place at "Hamburg Family Funfest Talent Contest, 2010" (Original Song)

Have always been a music lover and always will be.Have you performed in front of an audience?I am a singer, song writer and musician. I have played guitar since I was 12, and wrote my first song at 12 and appeared on a stage for the first time then. I spent a large majority of my life performing.
Your musical influences
I have what I guess you could call a unique style of music. Have been told there is no in between with my voice. It is either really loved or really hated. Was that a compliment or insult, lol? Was never sure but will never forget the statement. Think it is true. I have played and love many different types of music, and have a great fondness for soul and blues. Raised in bluegrass harmony. My sound is mix of blues, bluegrass and country. Covers are Sheryl Crow, Allison Krauss, Aretha Franklin, Patty Loveless, Bonnie Rait, Melissa Ethridge.What equipment do you use?
