Lawrence Epperson was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. As a child,Lawrence would stand in front of the mirror mimicking his favorite singers,Freddie Jackson and Luther Vandross. Although young and raw, Lawrence, however, recognized both Jackson and Vandross unique talent, which inspired Lawrence to join the church choir, where he began singing at the age of ten.
Churchgoers were awed by Lawrence's high vocal range, and gravitated towards his exuberant stage presence. Lawrence's spiritual renditions were well received, catapulting his confidence as well as his stature, as he was now the soloist for the "unlimited praise choir" (Greater Zion Baptist Church).
Although extremely confident, Lawrence was, however, duly humble. A direct testament to this assessment was simply Lawrence's act of generosity as he volunteered, while establishing himself as an attentive and informative vocal
trainer, from 1985-1995.
The church proved to be a great refuge for Lawrence. However, he needed dearly to fulfill his lifelong aspirations of being an R&B recording artist. To that end, Lawrence set out to showcase his talent by participating in various "open mic" competitions, ultimately winning the grand prize of one thousand dollars
at New York's prestigious palladium nightclub.
This is where Lawrence's popularity and fan base skyrocketed as he was routinely booked at the platinum lounge, the palladium and the city lounge. And,as a result,Lawrence was introduced to the music industries acclaimed producers,Lawrence "WOO" Allen and Kip Collins.
Kip Collins stated,"With each performance Lawrence epitomizes the professional fortitude, as well as solidifying his status as a rising star that exudes longevity".
Lawrence's smooth and sultry voice will captivate millions around the globe, ultimately distinguishing him as one of the most recognizable, soothing and entertaining entities in quite some time.
