Blues Rock

I am Larry McGahey and lately have been doing instrumentals that feature the electric guitar backed by the Bugs or Snow Band. In the past I have played in a variety of bands, duos etc. including Renaissance Fair. If you have ever heard 'In Wyrd' that is my Gibson SG the first time I played it.

Band/artist history

I wished I had a guitar when I was 8 years old so a very nice man named Ernie Messer let me borrow one of his Gibsons. Then my mother took me to Atkinson's Music Store to see if my fingers were long enough for lessons and my Mom and Dad got me a 3/4 size Harmony. When I never practiced my lessons my Father told my Mother not to take me to have my toes measured for dancing lessons.

Have you performed in front of an audience?

I played live for years all over da UP and the US mid-west now I would rather stay home and look for change in my couch. After the kids have been here I look there for the remotes as well. The special moments would be the times we were paid the amount we originally agreed upon.

Your musical influences

Paul Desmond (my favorite musician), Johnny Winter, Van Morrison, Robin Trower, Stephane Grappelli, Lee Ritenour, Rick Haynes, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, John Coltrane, Jackson Browne, David Lindley, John Mayall, John Prine, Hank Williams Sr., Homer and Jethro, Robben Ford, Gordon Lightfoot, Ray Price, Bob Dylan. I can't play, sing or write like any of these people but they are a few of the artists I have listened to over the years. There isn't enough room to really make this list for me.

What equipment do you use?

Variax 700 Blue hard tail, POD X3 Live, Line6 M13, Orion Platinum, Sonar Producer, Sound Forge, Gibson SG, Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, Yamaha flattop with Tim Shaw pickup, J-Station, custom computer with t.c. electronic konnekt 24D. I have just added BFD Drums to my tool box. I have been making practice tracks and beyond with Band In A Box. Roland GR20 with the Gibson SG as the controller coming soon.

Anything else?

I would like to thank Laura for making my life possible and complete. Shazam!
