I am a singer/songwriter who desires to write songs that stir up the heartstrings of people and gives them words to what they might be feeling. I grew up in the church as a worship pastor’s kid. I was raised in a pretty protected fish bowl with a wonderful family upbringing. At times it was difficult being under the constant eye of the church. I had my soul searching days, but came back to a deeper understanding of who God was and His reality in my life. My relationship became more personal than some religion passed down from my parents. Senior year of high school my vocal jazz ensemble toured throughout Poland and stopped off in Germany. My first experience going to another country (being born in Canada and moving to the States). What an eye opening experience. That was the beginning of an adventure in traveling for me. The following year I was chosen to represent Canada as a World Vision Youth Ambassador (I moved back to Canada. It’s a long story) and toured with 50 other youth ambassadors from 50 different countries promoting peace and reconciliation for three and a half months. We stayed and toured Taiwan, but also toured around the United States, Mexico and Canada. We spoke to government officials, met our country’s ambassadors at the UN, sang for Good Morning America, interviewed with CNN, and performed at many other events and gatherings. What a time we had. I realized through that life-changing experience that we all share a commonality of life; our humanity. No matter who we are or where we live; we sing, we dance, we work, we play, we eat, we learn, we love and we hate. Just under the umbrella of different cultures and upbringings. The world became much smaller and my scope on life became much more brilliant! Less than six months later I traveled to Guatemala and Calcutta, India. I was asked by Mission of Mercy to be their special guest singer from the states for its Singing Christmas Tree production in Calcutta. It was again an amazing experience. I was truly humbled to be asked to go there. Now even though I have recently picked up an insecurity of flying I would like to go back there again someday. There is so much richness to be found around the world that isn’t made of money. It is in the hearts of people from all over the world. After my traveling excursions I married and became a worship pastor’s wife. I never wanted to, but I knew deep down I would be perfect for the role since I had so much experience watching my mom do it. My husband has been serving in this way for over eight years now. We have since had two precious little children and I get the privilege of staying home with them full time! It is hard work, but so worth it. During this time of being with the family and our church God has given me the desire and ability to write songs. I grew up dreaming of one day being a professional singer, but never a songwriter. The songs I wrote were very embarrassing. However, God threw in a curve ball. He has placed on my heart to be a songwriter. He has equipped me with the ability and wants me to share what I’ve written to anyone who wants to listen. I don’t know what He has in store through all of this. I am just being obedient and covering the future in prayer. It is my hope that the songs I write and share will be ministering and encourage others in their walk with God.
