Lady J (USA)
Trudy Johnson
A night club entertainer since 1959, Trudy was first discovered by Nancy Wilson while singing for the seven piece group The Spiders. She was closely guided as Nancy Wilson for three years during which time she performed across the country and in Canada. Trudy recorded songs, performed with top name singers and served as the warm up entertainer at major performances. Some of her accomplishments through this period and beyond include the recording of, Your Good Thing Is About To Come to an End with Capitol Records; Singing and recording with the Lionel Hampton Band out of New York for three years. Performing as an ice breaker for the top billings for Motown and Capitol Records, and working with Marvin Gaye, B.B.King, Lou Rawls, Otis Redding and Ike & Tina Turner.
Trudy specialty is Torch (slow ballad) sung with an intensity that projects her inner soul and clearly separations her from peers and into a class of her own. She is also a command performer in the top 40 Soul, Jazz, and Rhythm & Blues.
Trudy Johnson was a winner of the Northern California 2004 Jazz and Blues Hall of Fame Award.Lady jazz
