Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Kriipis Tulo - latvian sound designer and Kolka-music lable founder, has been featured as a key figure of the Latvian electronic music scene for producing some of the most essential experimental electronic and ambient music of the past years. Formerly known as Bongo in the middle of 90's in times of famous Riga dance-punk Yaputhma Sound System. In 1997-2000 he had common projects with several Latvian musicians and sound designers: Ugis Vitinsh, Alexandroid, Spinners, Eugenie Droomoff etc. In 2001 together with Rodions Zolotarevs was founded Oloolo - electroacoustic music project and analogue electronics sound lab. In collaboration with Voldemars Johansons, Rodions Zolotarevs and he worked for an audio installation "Gaismas pils", inspired by the project of the New National Library of Latvia of the same name and presented it on the Architectural biennial NEXT (Venice) and KIMAF 2002 (Kiev). In 2002 Kriipis Tulo completed an EP entitled Ujuja, an estonian for swimming, (online released by www.sutemos.net). At 2004 artist worked on the documentary film Alise (directed by Asnate Rubine) as a sound producer. At 2004-2005 actively took a part in organisation of MikroStraava the series of post-ambient and microwaves music mini-festivals in Riga. The Scaepers project with I/Dex (BY) was established at 2004 and Foothpaths of Autumn album was recorded. In 2004 collaborating with Maksims Shentelevs (My-Ym) and Janis Bikis (mutal) for live performances @ Sound Forest04 festival of avantgarde music and video art, that took place in Riga, Latvia, september 2004 and MOKS Media Art Symposium, Estonia, October 2004. In autumn 2005 Kriipis Tulo was collaborating with the most popular Latvian painter Ritums Ivanovs for video installation "Exposed Paintings" with Kriipis Tulo new music as a soundtrack. Video installation was presented during the Ritums Ivanovs exhibition "Exposed" at Art gallery "Riga", November 2005. During 2004 - 2006 a few tracks and remixes were published by Sutemos, Rump Recordings and Sinergy-Networks record labels. Since 2006 collaborating with Mahi Bukimi as the Astrowind project. At spring 2007 the first EP of Astrowind was released by russian netlable Electrosound.
