, music from the next dawn.
2002, a Belgian young man out of the Heart of Antwerp, Carlos Dyckmans, deciding time had come for the next band. Koala, a project in name, composing tunes that will bring you into the next millenium of music. Music that will take you on a mindtrip from the heart of a green damp jungle up to the no-place catacombs of some grim city. A project, eclectic in nature, soul, hiphop, world, jazz, but eventually reaching beyond the borders of what music has been so far. This is what Koala stands for: an overwhelming aesthetic experience that transcends the mere auditive sensorium, intoxicating all possible senses, a tune becoming visual, a symbiosis of soundtrack and film. Music with a threatening sound, screaming guitarrifs, making you feel unease, haunting you up to your dreams, but also music with an upmost deliberating effect and sensual warm beats, comforting you with the smile of pure fullfilment. Starting as a one mans project, Koala by now has become duo, existing out of Carlos Dyckmans and Mc Islasoul, backed up by their fix group of instrumentals. Its founder,Carlos, has previously worked with such musicians as Stijn,Joost Zweegers(novastar),Kris Vermeir(Raf Coppens),Gregory frateur(DAAN,dez mona),Joy Adegoke,Lamont Stigler(dj grazzhoppas Bigband). However, time had come to move on and in 2006 Koala released its first album, Gravity. Besides composing and writing, Carlos is also in charge of producing and mixing the songs. On stage, Koala becomes a truly unique both visual and auditive spectactle. In an upmost dynamic performance the audience gets the chance to witness Koala joined by many reknowned guest singers and musicians, all from different musical backgrounds,cruising on and of the stage which becomes a transitspace where a variety of styles encounter in a most colourful event.
