Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Sick of listening to the radio? Tired of all the same, watered-down, MTV "Nu-Metal" bullshit? If you answered yes, the Metalcore phenom Knuckl from Bronx, NY is the band for you. Formed in the Fall of 2002 by guitarist Angelo Mihopoulos (ex-Heele), guitarist James Ravida (ex-Heele) guitar, and Chris Hendon (ex-Red Vianna) on vocals, Knuckl was a band with a clear and distinct vision. The band wanted to create a sound that would transcend the predictable formulas set by popular radio, MTV, and the "nu-metal" genre. Their goal was to maintain integrity and adhere to the intense and aggressive nature of heavy metal while carving out their own place within the genre. Shortly after the 3 founding members began writing, they recruited Frank Vaturina(ex AutumsFall) to play drums. After writing new material and auditioning a few different bass players, they finally added Frank Gagliardotto (ex 4 In Tha Chamber) as permanent bassist. Shortly after Gagliardotto came on board, internal issues resulted in founding member James Ravida leaving the band. Though it could have potentially been a major setback for the newly formed Knuckl, they quickly recovered. Since moving Frank Gagliardotto (primarily a guitar player) over to guitar and bringing aboard Philadelphia-born Pat Mitchell to play bass, they have secured a lineup with balls so heavy that they need a dump truck to carry them. Though Knuckl is still a new band, never confuse "new" with a lack of experience. The members of Knuckl collectively share about 20 years of playing on the Bronx/NYC scene... bringing a following of old-school fans wherever they go. Slowly and steadily this following has expanded, especially after the August 2003 release of their 3-song sampler entitled Demons. Knuckl is starting on that long path of growth that many bands never even begin. At present, you can find Knuckl destroying stages in the NY/Metro tri-state area. With their heavy riffs, insane breakdowns, bass that can punch a hole in your chest, and brutal, confrontational vocals, Knuckl will provide the perfect outlet for listeners to get their aggression out. Relying on nothing but themselves and their instruments (no flashy production or effects), Knuckl is a band that has to be seen live to be fully appreciated. Come down to a show and check them out. It is defnitely worth the time.
