KNOWLEDGE (K TO DA NO)
Every millennium a child is born that can perform at a level beyond the expected norm of
a four minute thirty second song. Now amidst all of the drama and over commercialism
in hip-hop, comes a rapper whose wit and insight is unmatched. Growing up in the
violent and drug infested millbrook projects of the South Bronx, Knowledge is no
stranger to the pitfalls that claim lives everyday in the ghetto. Though most young men
living under these same circumstances would have fallen into a life of crime, Knowledge
decided to make sure he would use his experiences to achieve greatness. Once a good
baseball player, Knowledge envisioned himself playing professionally until his passion
for the sport came to an end. Around this same time is when a love for hip-hop was
beginning to take over his life. He wrote his first song at age 12, and from then on there
was no turning back for the young MC. I remember I used to write all day, In class at
school, at home, at night, just about anytime I had an idea. It was like I was obsessed,
and still to this day if I get an idea I gotta write it down. I used to work in a warehouse
where there was no paper to write, so I used napkins from the bathroom to pen my
rhymes, and in a matter of months I literally had about 500 verses all on napkins sitting in
a garbage bag in my room. Throughout his demo, there is a mixture of heavy club bangin'
tracks, along with personal and gritty songs which reflect some of his past and personal
experiences. Although, always one
for the usual street track and reflective songs, he has not forgotten about the club goers
with such tracks as Watchu gon do, and Esa loca. I just like to mix it up, you
know. Some days I wake up and Im in a bad mood, some days Im feeling righteous
about things, and sometimes I just wanna chill and party. I dont like to consider
myself one dimensional, I just wanna make good, quality music that everyone can relate
to. With a great assortment of ideas, know how, and razor sharp lyrics to boot,
Knowledge is poised and ready to make an immediate impact in hip-hop. I just feel
blessed to be able to get this chance to show the world what Ive been holding inside for
the past 11 years you know. I feel like I have a great support system behind me
because I have two hip-hop legends in my corner, so as far as Im concerned there aint
no place for me to go but to the top.
Knowledge is currently doing local shows, and shopping his demo, but has yet to attain
a record deal. He is managed by Rob Base & Dj Ez -Rock.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
I been going out rocking at some shows in local clubs around the new york, new jersey, philly areas for the past 2 years now. I was discovered by ROB BASE a few years back and he's the one who basically put me on and is helping me further my career. Ya'll might know ROB BASE from his most influential and greatest party record of all time, IT TAKES TWO.
Your musical influences
I would have to say that I don't really have one main musical influence. If I had to make a list, it would probably be too long. I listen to everything from rock to hip-hop, to alternative. As far as hip hop goes, definitely JAY-Z, NAS, BIG PUN, RAKIM, KRS-ONE, NOTORIOUS B.I.G. Besides rap, my favorite shit right now is anything from maroon 5, red hot chilli peppers, and coldplay.
Anything else?
Yeah, and another thing, im the underground king of the club smash record. So all of ya'll so called " hardcore rappers " don't hate me because I know how to create that radio hit. That shit that your girl be backing that ass up to is ma shit, so keep smacking them asses on the dance floor my niggaz and I'll keep supplying the heat for yal'll to rock to! Its so mufucking gorgeous!!
