Kitsunegari is an acoustic pop/folk artist with almost a decade of experience as a solo performer. She has captured the imaginations and hearts of all who listen; her silken voice and catchy melodies entrance the listener from the first note to the last. Kitsunegari's lyrics paint portraits of her experiences and her interests.
With the help of Matthew Hoffman and Lempicka Records, Kitsunegari finally entered the studio and recorded her debut EP âœbootpolish&babiesâ, an ecclectic mix of original songs that illustrates her songwriting and lyrical inventiveness.
Promotion of the ep has seen her play venues all over brisbane, including: the globe theatre, the step inn, kitty o'sheas, qut guild bar, uq red room and the royal george hotel (where she is frequently seen performing at their open mic night).
Kitsunegari has played along with the likes of Lilly's Ether, Sue Ray, Wipedout, Shelby Lim and the Butcher Birds.
2008 saw Kitsunegari do a live to air spot on brisbane's premier community radio station 4ZZZfm, and she was picked up by internet radio announcer Nana Mex who gave her airplay on (the now defunct) Downunda Thunda Radio (DTR). The Queensland division of DTR featured kitsunegari as one of their âœfeatured airplay artistsâ. Expect to hear more of Kitsunegari's music on the airwaves as Nana Mex and the team at Global Thunda Network (GTN) begin broadcasting in late January/early February of 2009.

Kitsunegari's beginnings are humble. Born of a tired mind in the late 1990s to an aging teenage high school graduate, she has slowly and comfortably been given room to mature and develop like a normal creative being. Permitted from day one to do as she pleases, Kitsunegari has adventured near and far both creatively and metaphorically.
In the early days, Kitsunegari could be seen attentively attached to her various notebooks and plethora of pens, pencils and erasers, writing down all that she saw, heard and thought. Some of these early works still exist and are frequently drawn upon for new song ideas.
Kitsunegari soon stumbled across a second hand guitar and began teaching herself how to play it. Before long (and as destiny would have it) she began composing music to her words, and thusly, the first songs of Kitsunegari were born. Six months later she was performing her first gigs.
A brief hiatus from performance to focus on songwriting and further study soon came and during this time Kitsunegari's music and writing matured dramatically. Her lyrics filled with intense vivid imagery reflecting her experiences, circumstances and interests. With an increased catalogue of newer more confident songs, Kitsunegari once again found herself back in the spotlight, broadening her audience and improving her performance.
After almost ten years of performing, Kitsunegari has finally been given the opportunity to get into a studio and record her music, thanks to the generous offer laid before her by independent record producer Matthew Hoffman of Lempicka Records. Kitsunegari is now excitedly putting her songs to cd and looking forward to what the future holds for her music.
