Kitsch
Kitsch is more than a band name. It's the essence of its music. It's the art of turning simple pop songs into a mess, yet keeping the original simple song hanging in the air. You almost want to hear the songs performed differently. But you won't. And that's why you'll keep listening to them. And at the same time you'll ask yourself "why did he do that? Why did he put all that stuff in a nice pop tune?". You know why? Beacuse it's KITSCH.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Kitsch started out as (and still is) a solo project by former orbiting riley guitar player Edo (that would be me). Tired of his old grunge band that didn't have room for his passion for weird guitar fx, dance taste, electronic sequencing and programming, he started writing his own songs and recording everything by himself in his home studio, and he finally ended up quitting the band to focus on this project. Right now he has written and recorded a decent number of songs to release an album, but he's currently looking for a drummer and a bass player to complete the line up to rerecord the songs and start playing live.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
Not yet..hopefully soon. After all, that's what it's all about!
Your musical influences
The main influences are U2 - especially the POP era -, MUSE, and there's a lot of dance / electronic involved, as well as some funk going on here and there. I still consider it pop rock though.
What equipment do you use?
Guitars: gibson les pauls, fender strats, tom anderson.
Amps: Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Bogner cab
FX: too many to mention.
Programming: Reason 2.5
Sequencing: Logic Pro 7
Mikes: Shure beta 58 and 57
Anything else?
Kitsch is currently looking for bass player and drummer to complete the line up. If you're interested, email me at kitsch@hotmail.co.uk or edocore@hotmail.com
