Kisella Hillman has been singing since she was four years old. An enthusiastic music student with a keen ear for good melodies, her powerful voice has seen her far, with her soulful and lyrical prowess, she has wowed crowds at some of the major festivals, including Glastonbury, from her early teens.
The 21-year-old singer/ songwriter was born in Nairobi, Kenya, but grew up in Somerset and now resides in London. With such a multifaceted and multicultural upbringing, this reflects a great deal on her music. Her musical influences include Etta James, Louis Armstrong, Bing Crosby and The Boswell Sisters particularly whom her voice has been continuously likened to.
Kisella is currently studying Jazz at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, on a scholarship that her impressive voice earned her. Her music can be described as fundamentally jazzy, with an emphasis on prominent instrumentals, and beautiful vocal tones. Her lyrics are deeply inspiring, focusing on subjects such as love, family, loss and betrayal. Kisella’s realistic and holistic approach to her music makes her a force that the music world is yet to reckon with.
