Goosey Goosey
A funky number that always gets our fans up and out of their seats. Hope you enjoy it.
The Kings of Cheeze have been described as a "jazz influenced folk-rock band", but even that wide-ranging description fails to capture the essence of this group. They are totally original albeit receiving their inspiration from artists as diverse as David Byrne and Johnny Cash, Captain Beefheart and the Willard Grant Conspiracy.
Formed in 2004, the band brings together seasoned performers in Mike Williams (vocals, guitar), Dave Gray (vocals, guitar), Trish Murray (vocals, percussion), Roy Middleton (vocals, bass), Stuart Sinclair (drums), Steve O. Connor (pipes), and Strange Mike (trumpet and flugelhorn).
Band/artist history
Our combined ages would reach into the centuries...so our history would take some time. We've been around...and around a few times. I hope we've still got some history to make.
Have you performed in front of an audience?
We play fairly regularly in our local...the Alan Ramsay Hotel in Carlops, about 12 miles south of Edinburgh. Recently, we went to town and played at the Roxy Art House (great acoustics) and the Tron Tavern. Memorable moment? There've been many, but the night the sound system crashed at the Tron was one...Mike got up and led us and a sold out crowd through "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Rock Island Line" until we worked things out. Everyone is a professional...they love challenges like that.
Your musical influences
We're an eclectic band and you never know where the influences are going to come from. Dave brings punk and Talking Heads; Mike brings melancholic Appalachia and Elvis; Strange Mike brings Miles Davis; Steve, his Celtic moodiness; Trish brings vocal prowess; Roy brings his quirky artwork and rock solid bass lines; and Stuart brings the beer.
