Killing Faith

Blending a broad range of influences from the whole history of rock, Killing Faith is a band not afraid to speak out about the issues confronting all of us in our daily lives without spewing unbridled hatred at an already aggression-saturated public.
Tell me about your history? How did you get where you are now?
Rane Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, began his musical adventure in 1994 with local 80s/90s-style hard/glam rock band Alchemy. For five years, Alchemy cultivated a substantial following opening for the likes of Fozzy, Stuck Mojo and Sevendust. They gained radio attention and major-label interest only to undergo a complete disintegration. Through all of this, Rane not once wavered or lost sight of his personal goals, one of which was to bring music to ordinary people; to challenge and empower people through music and to let people know that they are not alone in the enigma known as 'life'. Rane relocated to Seattle, Washington in summer 2000 to work on a solo outing called Ride the Dragon but it was simply not meant to be. He was introduced to Shaunfuture bass player in Killing Faithin winter 2000, together adopting the name of one of Shaun's previous band's songs: Killing Faith, in its infancy, was born. Richard Lead Guitar, over the ten years Richard has been playing, he has deliberately navigated a diverse musical course while remaining firmly committed to the ideal of distortion-drenched swirly guitar noise. During his formative years, he played in Skiff, a naïve yet fun proto-Britpop indie combo from his hometown of Bradford, England. He recorded two EPs and a single with this band between 1991 and 1993. Before joining Killing Faith, he entertained himself with various musical pursuits, the most notable being The Jimi Cook Experience with his brother, singer-songwriter James Cook, producing walls of psychedelic improvisational progressive din, and The Peace drawing strongly from his classic rock and blues background, the primary influence being the mighty Thin Lizzy. Shaun Bass, being the youngest member of the band has a track record for staying busy and having a devoted dedication to music. Kinky Briefcase (19967), Hyper Goat (19978), Bad Syntax (19989) and Wasted Element (19992001) are just a few of the bands and projects that Shaun has been involved in. Shaun's influences come from just about everything in life and that is what makes all that he does a more and more interesting musical enchilada wrapped up in a burrito of b-b-bass! With influences including AC/DC, Jimi Hendrix, Nirvana, Pantera, The Beatles, Alice in Chains, The Melvins, Tool and George Carlin, he is sure to have an angle and point of view that most people haven't even considered. Steve - Drums has been around the block a time or ten. Beginning life in Washington and moving to Kansas at the age of twelve, he spent most of his childhood getting into as much trouble as possible. He wanted to play drums in the school band but as is commonly the way of things, drums were deemed too expensive. Eventually he was able to afford a drum set and he found himself joining an alternative-punk band called Carpet and then on to another band called H.C.M.F. playing a brand of funk rap/metal. Later, a former member of Carpet proposed playing under the name of El Chupacabra, which they did on and off for about two years. Steve decided to move back to the Northwest and after putting an ad in The Seattle Drummer, and a few games of phone tag, Steve finally hooked up with Killing Faith for an audition and the rest is history.
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We are playing live all around the Northwest ALL THE TIME! We live for the road, we live for the show, we live for the music, to bring it to the people. We are not human beings having a spiritual experience involving music. We are spiritual beings having a human experience revolving around music.
