We started out as your basic boring cover band. Dont they all start that way? The whole thing started in the fall of 98' when Richy and Charlie were introduced by some mutual friends. Things kinda spread from there. Band members have come and gone but Rich and Charlie have stayed true to the scene. The band started out being called Whatever. After a couple of years and a few drummers and bass players, it was time for a change. With the band having a solid line up finally by 2001, we decided on the name Kikplate. We have played from Kansas City to Wichita and everywhere else in between. (A few of those places are best forgotten.) The formula that has kept this band together is fun+fun+more fun. Thats what we have when we play on stage. This band is definately a live band. We've never had the money to make a full quality c.d. but we did recently finish our first c.d. recorded at a small studio in Pittsburg, Ks. We would love the chance to get in the studio again and be able to make a good quality c.d. with profesional mastering and mixing. Until then, we're just gonna keep rockin', as long as the people come. And the crowd is always growing!

Band bio
Blood,sweat, and beers. That's what has made this band. Four guys from different musical backgrounds and walks of life that some how came together to form this thing known as Kikplate. The band was formed by ex-Whatever members Charlie Harding and Richy Kerns. Robin Belew, a friend from a band in Pittsburg,Ks (Ill Faded) was brought in after his band split up. Jerod Finley.....well Jerod was just sent forth from the gods of drumdom!
From Charlie's onstage energy to heavy molten guitars, thumpin bass lines and drum beats like a battle field of explosions, this band has kicked and fought its way out of southeast Kansas on a mission. The mission: to prove that even a band from a small town in Kansas can kick the music industry in the proverbial face and make them like it!
Have you performed live in front of an audience? Any special memories?
We play in Kansas City, Fort Scott, Ks, Pittsburg ks, Wichita ks, and all over.

We really have so many influences its hard to list them all. Here's the short list: Korn, Sevendust, Drowning Pool, From Zero, Incubus, Slipknot, Flaw, Soil, Metallica, Ozzy, Kittie....
What equipment do you use?
Yamaha drums, sabian cymbols, Jackson, Gibson, Ibanez, Fender guitars, Sunn amps, Line6 guitar processors, assorted beers.
Anything else?
We love to play! We dont care if there is only 10 poeple in the crowd as long as they are getting off on what we're doing. We're not in it for the money. We're in it for the rush and the satisfaction of seeing other people loving what we love to do.
